[Movie] Casablanca (1942)

Posted on November 12, 2014 by DC

CasablancaPoster-GoldI just love black-and-white old-school films. They’re just so… old-school.

This is, however, the first time I’ve watched the much-touted romantic movie Casablanca.

The men were complex, but had traces of “innate good”. The woman had angelic stills. Some people for comedic relief were added in.

There’s an angle of the reality of exit visas and Nazi Germany, as well as politics and corruption. Very interesting historical standpoint too, as well as with the portrayal of the exodus to America.

The story, however… Sweet, I guess. I can see how some people can bawl their hearts out with this movie, especially since it deals with love and self-sacrifice. (For me, at this point in time: “pretty OK”.)

I also got a number of references that modern-day people use online and offline, which is cool. Oh, and As Time Goes By. Let’s not forget, “Of all the gin joints in all the towns in all the world, she walks into mine.”

Nice romantic old-school.
